Prom Magazines 2008

The big four prom magazines for 2008 are now out. You can pick up the latest issues of Seventeen Prom; Your Prom; Teen Prom; and CosmoGirl Prom for about $5 or $6 in the United States and Canada at most convenience stores and book stores.

The covers show the mags ask the stores to display them until the end of April 2008.

If you can't find one locally, or you don't have any prom magazines in your country (do they sell any in the UK?), you might still be able to buy one or all of them online. At the time of writing (January 17, 2008), a few of the American prom magazines are for sale at booksamillion.com.

Some stores will sell out quickly, because many girls don't wait until just a few weeks before prom in May or June to plan their prom or buy a prom dress. Actually, a lot of prom shopping starts as early as the beginning of January, or just after the special annual mags become available.

The 2008 prom magazines are no different from earlier years. They are full of ads for prom gowns. Probably half of the magazines, which are about 300 pages on average, are ads. The rest is prom advice.

Most if not all the prom dress advertisements in the magazines provide a website address so you can buy a gown that catches your fancy at the designer's site. The magazines themselves also provide the address to their special prom websites.

So if you like to shop from a printed catalog instead of scouring the internet for a prom dress, or you want to see the colors in print first, buy the magazines, and then go online if you like one or more. For many girls it's faster to find a prom dress first in a print magazine than online.
